A message from Centralia Regional Library regarding updates on library services for students: A few changes are in the works at Centralia Regional Library that may be of interest to your school. The library has purchased additional mobile hotspot units for patrons to check out. We are also in the process of re-cataloging our laptop computers to checkout for off-site use. Our thoughts in doing this is to have these units available for students that may need the technology if they are taking virtual classes at any time during the school year. As you probably know, our library card can be used for ALL of our services, both on-site and online. Before issuing cards to minors, we require parents to sign a registration form, with parent ID information. Registration forms are available at the Centralia Regional Library. In the past we could only issue free cards to those who lived within the boundaries of our library district. In June, the Governor signed HB 2096, which included the Cards for Kids Act. This act states that nonresident fees shall not be charged to a nonresident student in an unincorporated area whose household falls at or below the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Income Eligibility Guidelines. This gives us the legal right to issue free cards to students who meet the requirements even if they do not live in our library district. For questions , or more information regarding library services, please contact the Centralia Regional Library at 618-532-5222.

This month’s Regal Eagle Award goes to a lady I love with all my heart and one of the best people on the planet, Shirley Farthing. She might have been the school nurse for many years but she was also a friend and counselor and advisor to everyone. If everyone could love like her, find the positive like her, and care like her- the world would be a wonderful amazing place. Thank you for being you! Remember you can send your nominations for the Regal Eagle Award to regaleagle@odinpublicschools.org

Group assignments have been sent out to all parents/guardians of students who registered for school. Students who did not register, have NOT been placed in groups. If you did not receive a message regarding your student’s group assignment, please contact the school as soon as possible. This is a tentative plan and this schedule is subject to change as new guidelines are released from the state. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work toward a great school year.

Also, per ISBE and IDPH guidelines, all individuals who enter the school building are required to wear a mask or face covering. 50 Ways to Beat COVID. You can sing it to the tune of the old Paul Simon hit. If you don’t know the song, this would be a great opportunity to ask your parents or grandparents to introduce you to it! 🎶🎶

The Regal Eagle Award for July goes to one of my favorites people, Ashley Ambuehl. Ashley graduated from Odin in 2007. Since then she has accomplished many things to be proud of. She attended Kaskaskia and from there moved on to Murray State. Following college she became a Peace Corps volunteer and is currently a helicopter pilot for the United States Navy. Ashely has set a remarkable example for all of us Eagles and her reach has extended far beyond the boundaries of our nest. Thank you Ashley for all you have done and will do, we love you and stay safe. Remember you can email nominations for the Regal Eagle Award to RegalEagle@odinpublicschools.org
