Yesterday the Intro to Family and Consumer Science class visited Mrs. Bernard's Pre-K class to make Solar Eclipse Toast! Using toast, jam, bananas cut into the stages of an eclipse and chocolate syrup for the complete eclipse; students were able to see the stages of an eclipse that they will see on Monday!

Hall of Fame Inductee for the Veteran's Choice is Crawford Hawley. After graduating in 1928, he continued to be associated with the school. He worked the score table for grade school and high school basketball games. When Odin Park opened in the early 1960s, he served as a groundskeeper and coached a youth league team. However, after his retirement in the early 1970s, he and his brother Chuck became regular visitors to the school. Some must have thought they were on the payroll as they dropped in daily, checking in with teachers, students, coaches, cooks, secretaries, and administrators. He would call you by your last name while shaking your hand and smiling. After he could no longer drive, he relied on others to gather information on the school. He had a schedule for every sports team and wanted information on every player. He followed the teams closely by reading the paper, listening to the radio, and relying on friends and neighbors to bring him the latest news. Mr. Crawford Hawley may have graduated in 1928, but his love affair with the school continued throughout his life. He was an essential part of our school family and is greatly missed.

Parents: Due to safety concerns we will not be in attendance on April 8th (Eclipse day). The traffic concerns, a way to get to the hospitals in case of an emergency, and the ability for local authorities to reach us if needed has made it difficult for us to be in session. Your child's homeroom or advisory teacher will be sending home eclipse glasses and educating your student about the safety precautions of participating in an eclipse. Thank you. Mrs. Kirgan Please note the changes in the calendar: 4/8 will be a non-attendance day (NO E-Learning) 5/23 half-day school improvement LAST DAY OF SCHOOL 5/24 all day teacher’s in-service

This year's HOF Team Inductee is the 1978-79 Baseball Team. Jim Mulvaney led this talented club to the first regional title in school history. Coach Mulvaney had the Eagles program on the rise from the 75-76 season onward, and those efforts culminated in the success of this memorable Eagle team as the most fundamentally sound team in school history. Fielding and team speed were elements of the game they excelled in. After a 14-5 fall season, the team would finish the spring with a combined 30-14 slate. The season concluded in a 7-1 victory over Mulberry Grove in the regional final, which saw the Eagles bring a regional baseball plaque back to the school for the first time. They fell short in the sectional opener to a solid Decatur St. Theresa club in a closely played contest. The team finished second in both the MTC Conference and the conference tournament. They took a second in the KC Tourney and won the Farina Tourney in the fall to kick off the season. (Team Pictured: Kneeling: Rocky Scarbrough, Coach Jim Mulvaney, and Ed Brown.
